About Our School
You have found the right place for you and your family to do martial arts. We are the premier training facility for new and experienced martial artists in the Alpharetta, Milton, Roswell, and Crabapple area. Crabapple Martial Arts Academy offers classes for pre-school kids and elementary-age children in addition to our premier training for new and experienced teens and adults. The programs include beginner martial arts, advanced Black Belt classes, leadership training, and instructor certification.
We offer a blend of traditional martial arts training in both Karate and Jiu-Jitsu In our renowned family and children’s karate program. Children are taught age relevant curriculum to help them build self-esteem, increase personal self-discipline, get fit and of course be safe from bullying and other dangers that kids face in today’s world. These classes (unlike most kid’s activities) are taught by full-time professionals who are background checked and trained for hundreds to thousands of hours during the course of their instructor training.
In our Adult and teen classes, some of the students have goals to lose weight or get in shape. Others want a high-energy workout to complement other sports or hobbies. And other students want to dedicate themselves to be safe! Our professional and uniquely qualified staff is eager to help you meet and exceed your health, fitness, and self-defense goals.

Sensei Robert
Sensei Robert is the Head Instructor and Director at CMAA. He started training at 24 years old and currently holds the rank of Yodan (4th Degree Black Belt) in both Shuri Ryu Karate and Shintoyoshin Kai Jui Jitsu. His favorite things about teaching are seeing that moment when something “clicks” in a student’s understanding; and learning new ways to deliver information to the students. When he is not at the dojo he likes to spend time on yardwork and working on classic cars.
Mr. Cole
Instructor Cole has over 25 years of Martial arts experience with many different styles. His favorite part of teaching is witnessing people’s belief in themself grow. Being that guiding light towards a positive life path. Outside of the dojo he enjoys video games and campfires.
Ms. Basil
Ms. Basil is the Program Director here at CMAA. She has always had a passion for sharing culture, knowledge, and art to help people come together. She also has triple citizenship!
Assistant Instructors
We have several different assistant instructors here at CMAA. Our assistant instructors have all been training in our school their entire martial arts career and are at least Shodans (1st Degree Black Belts). All our instructors are passionate about Shuri Ryu Karate and helping other students achieve their goals along the way. By having multiple instructors, we can provide more personalized attention for our student base. This also allows our students to learn in different ways, making sure everyone is exposed to multiple teaching styles so that each student receives the most out of their training with us.
Why Choose Crabapple Martial Arts Academy?
TREMENDOUSLY FUN CLASSES
All our classes at Crabapple Martial Arts Academy are immensely fun for our students. Even when classes become hard, and the students are having to sweat through push-ups and sit-ups, our staff find countless ways to keep students involved, motivated, and most importantly having fun. We have created many many drills and exercises which seem like games, but in practice actually provide the students with physical fitness, martial arts skills, as well as build reaction time and impulse control.
AMAZING INSTRUCTORS
The Instructors at Crabapple Martial Arts Academy are a few of the highest trained and best instructors in the nation. Each instructor must pass vigorous instructor training and certification every year and maintain their own active training. Each instructor has been selected by our Chief Instructor based on the attitude and aptitude as instructors to our CMAA students. Austin Thompson
Crabapple martial arts is the best school in town. I grew up in karate in my youth so naturally we wanted that experience for our daughter. Karate has helped Freya develop both physically and mentally. The instructors do a great job with younger children, taking time out to mentor on a one on one basis if needed. Three things I really like about this school. 1 They are family oriented and put big focus on helping children develop. 2 They have great instructors and plenty of them so that you can get some one on one help when you need it. 3 They are not a black belt mill. You really have to put in the work at this school and its shows. The black belts I have worked with at this school are top notch. Definitely recommend!
